Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) shares gained almost 2% after reporting second quarter results. Operating earnings increased 16%, supported by manufacturing, services and retailing. Energy profits also strengthened, while insurance was weaker. Insurance investment income declined 9% during the quarter.
