Warner Brothers Discovery surged 29% and Paramount Skydance jumped 16% after reports that Paramount is preparing an offer to buy Warner, the studio which owns CNN, HBO, Barbie and Harry Potter. No formal bid has been submitted and both firms declined to comment.
