Trading Statement and Update – HEPS are expected to be between 35% and 25% lower to between 417.7c and 482.0c. Turnover increased by 7.9% to R72.9 billion. Southern Africa saw a total turnover growth of 5.6%, with grocery and liquor sales affected by SAP software challenges at the KwaZulu-Natal distribution center. The grocery wholesale business had a sales increase of 7.9%, while TOPS liquor sales declined by 1.9% due to high sales in the previous period when COVID-19 liquor trading restrictions eased. Build it experienced a 3.8% decline in turnover. BWG Group in Ireland and South West England experienced a strong performance with an 8.8% turnover increase. SPAR Switzerland had a 4.3% decline in turnover, mainly due to decreased market volumes and retail sales loss. SPAR Poland achieved a 4.9% turnover.
