Operational Update – Shoprite Group’s total merchandise sales increased by 16.9% to around R 215.0 billion in the 52 weeks to July 2023. Sales growth per segment showed Supermarkets RSA achieving 17.8% growth, Supermarkets Non-RSA with 16.4%, Furniture with 5.1%, and Other operating segments with 13.3%. Internal selling price inflation measured 10.1% for Supermarkets RSA. The group gross margin is expected to be lower than last year.
