HY Results – Results for the six months ended 31 December 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, showed a 13% increase in net interest income (NII) and an 11% rise in net interest revenue (NIR). The bank’s operating expenses increased by 9%, while impairment charges rose by 24%. Normalized earnings improved by 15%, and its return on equity (ROE) increased from 20.1% to 21.8%. Firstrand’s deposit franchise grew by 12%, while core lending advances increased by 11%. However, the credit loss ratio for core lending advances rose from 0.65% to 0.74%.
