South32 reported a strong June quarter, with FY26 production exceeding guidance across most operations. Sierra Gorda production exceeded guidance by 2% to 87.1kt copper equivalent, while Cannington rose 2% above guidance to 205.4kt zinc equivalent. SA Manganese production exceeded guidance by 4% to 2,085kwmt, while Australia Manganese, Brazil Alumina and Brazil Aluminium also outperformed guidance. South32 also agreed to sell its aluminium value chain assets to Alcoa for an implied enterprise value of up to $5.6bn, accelerating its transition towards a base metals focused portfolio.
